I had no intention of posting a blog today, I was going to wait until I had progressed a little further through my 28 day challenge.

But Monday is my weekly weigh in day and it marks a positive start to what is going to be a difficult and stressful week of interviewing for my own job at work due to redundancies. The whole situation is really stressing me out and frankly, pissing me off. However, I have avoided going head first into a slab of Cadbury fruit and nut... every cloud n all that.

Anyway, yesterday was day 5 of my 28 day challenge and I was feeling it. I went the gym and back on the treadmill for another day of cardio but everything was sore. My achilles and hamstrings were tight and my legs, arse and back were aching.

As a result, I didn't get as much running done as I did on Friday or Saturday. I got to 30 mins of 2:30 / 7:30 intervals and I was spent. I did get to the hour mark, but the second 30 mins had an increased amount of walking in. More positively though, I still burnt 774 calories according to the treadmill.

My diet has also been pretty good this week too. Through a friends recommendation I've recently discovered lettuce wraps and they've been an absolute game changer.

Lettuce wraps with grated cheddar, chilli con carne and soured cream

I actually couldn't tell you how many wraps I've had this week... Only that I'm on my 3rd iceberg lettuce! But where a tortilla has almost 200 calories in the wrap alone, the lettuce has 1 calorie and is 95% water. I thought these would be bland and boring, but its been quite the opposite, especially in the warmer weather. Eating good hearty food but having a fresh crunch to it has been amazing.

Chilli con carne has been my go-to filling so far. I've also been loading it with extra veg in the form of sweetcorn and garden peas to get some extra nutrients in.

Add a sprinkling of grated cheddar and a small drizzle of soured cream and these are absolutely delightful! They're also high in protein too.

So that brings me to Monday morning and my weekly weigh in. The combination of gym challenge, extra cardio and lettuce wraps all seem to be paying off.

I dropped 2kg or 4.4lb this week. This marks my biggest loss since week 3.

I'm absolutely buzzing with this and that brings my total loss since 5th February up to 3st 7lb / 22.5kg / 49.6lb.

My only regret is not getting a dexa scan at the start of this journey because whist the numbers on the scales are decreasing, I'm getting stronger in the gym and can feel in my arms, legs and back that I've put on a lot of muscle too. I'd be really interested to know how much actual fat I've lost and how much muscle I've gained over the past 4 months.

Unfortunately that muscle isn't visible yet though, so I just need to stay focused and motivated and see where we are over the coming months.
