8 weeks in, Golden Doses and New Providers

As the title suggests we have a fair bit to unpack in this weeks blog. I'm now officially 8 weeks into my Mounjaro journey and for 8 consecutive weeks I've seen the numbers coming down on the scales and

I've now lost a total of 12.4kg.

More shockingly, I did 4 days in the gym last week!

Whilst I've added the gif for comedy value, I cant help but feel that I actually don't recognise myself from the person I was in January. I mean, I'd not been the gym since September 2024.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm aware that this is still early days in my journey and I am still built like a potato, but as I prepare for the 4 day Easter weekend I'm not sat here browsing the menu at my local Chinese takeaway wondering what I'm having for tea in preparation for the new diet to start again on Monday.

Mounjaro has been a godsend for the mental shift I'm seeing. I'm making better choices. I'm not craving copious amounts of processed food. I'm motivated to get to the gym and I'm starting to generally look after myself a bit more.

That said, I'm not starving myself and I'm not on a diet consisting of purely rabbit food. For example, I was in the Co-op shop last week and they have a new range of New York slice style pizzas, I thought they looked nice so I had one for my tea. I went for coffee one lunch time and had a cake with my coffee.

The difference now is that I felt satiated. It was enough. It was enjoyable. But it wasn't the first domino to tumble in a 3000 calorie binge.

Its a weird feeling. Also kind of upsetting. It makes me realise that I actually lost myself a long time ago!

But more importantly, I'm back on the right path.

Golden Dose

For those that don't know, Mounjaro pens have enough liquid in for over 5 injections. However, they cease working after 4 despite still containing around 0.75ml of Mounjaro.

It is recommended that this is just thrown away but I think these recommendations may come from people who ain't feeling this squeeze like us average folk.

These jabs can run into several hundred per month depending on your provider, so I'm sorry Eli Lily, I'm not throwing £40+ quid in the bin.

If that's affecting your share price, then address your complaints to 10 Downing Street, as its that gang of idiots are driving this country into austerity at an alarming rate.

You can google or YouTube what the golden dose is and how to use it. It's simple. But the long and short is, I'm not dead, my limbs are still attached and I feel good. No side affects. I feel like I did after any of my other injections. No other issues and ready for my jab next week.

New Providers

Speaking of next weeks jab. I've changed provider. Again.

I'm now on my 3rd provider for Mounjaro. Its a bit of a nuisance to be honest, but upon purchasing my new 7.5mg dose this week, I got a £110 new customer discount.

I started out with Morrisons pharmacy back at the beginning of Feb. They were OK. Bit disjointed in the initial "consultation" phase as I mentioned in my previous blog. But I got my treatment and used it.

For my second pen, I ordered this from MedExpress. I got a discount code of 35% for new customers. I signed up, and did my course of treatments through them.

Before I finished with MedExpress, I sent them an email to enquire if there were any discounts available or if they could price-match other providers. The response I got was pretty much, "computer says no", so I went in hunt of a new provider.

I'm now with numan.com and so far so good. Their process has been efficient and they have an app that seems to built around a community feel and support. There's a lot of reference material, weight trackers, hints and tips and a live chat function.

Don't get me wrong, my provider choice is purely cost efficiency, especially as my dosage increases, but I've actually had a rather positive experience so far.

I'm in no way affiliated, sponsored or paid by Numan but when I signed up, they sent a referral link for new customers to get £100 off their first order. If anyone wants to save a few pennies, I'll put it below.

Savings are now really adding up to be honest. I cant remember if I had a discount code on my first order, it could have been £30 quid but I cant find the invoice in my emails.

However, since then I've saved £61 with a new customer discount at MedExpress and a further £110 with Numan.

£171 over 2 months really helps at the moment.

Finally, the only downside to changing providers is going through the sign up and consultation process each time. Don't get me wrong, its easy but its also a bit of a pain. It would be much easier if a provider just stepped up and offered good competitive pricing to all customers, not just to entice new ones.

Part of the consultation process is sending pics of yourself (front and side) along with a pic of your ID and usually proof of previous prescriptions (if its over the initial 2.5mg).

But in my opinion, its we worth moving around. I don't know anyone who has money to burn nowadays, so as Tesco once sid, Every little helps.
