Month 1 results and reflections

So the results are in for my first month on Mounjaro and a part of me regrets not starting this sooner. Not only have the results reflected on the scales but I think I've seen a bigger mental shift more than anything else.

There have been a whole host of positives including;

  • Food shopping - As I covered in my previous post, my selection in the supermarket has flipped 180 degrees and buying healthy doesn't feel forced or like a chore.

  • Snacks - My snacks haven't consisted of calorie dense processed foods that offer no nutritional value. I have had the odd Kitkat or cornflake cake from my local bakery. But it must be 3 or 4 of them across the whole month. Is this that "moderation" thing that everyone talks about?

  • Cravings - 95% gone. I do have "food noise" but I think its more genuine hunger signals. I find myself thinking about food at lunch time and Tea/Dinner time (depending on what end of the country you're from).

However, I haven't at any point felt myself skipping meals or not wanting to eat. I still have a half decent appetite. Something I'm buzzing about, as I won't be starving myself into unsustainable habits.

  • Fizzy drinks - Weirdly, I've not wanted a fizzy drink once in the last month. That's not to say I'm only drinking water. Quite the opposite in fact. I still enjoy my coffee whether its instant at home or a flat white from my local independent, but I'm also drinking cordial. I know this still has sweeteners etc in it and its not the best, but it's also nowhere near as bad as full fat coke or Dr Pepper.

  • Mental change - I've been back in the gym and exercising again. I've also increased my daily step count with my dog. Not only has this been necessary, I've also found it enjoyable. (except for dog walks in torrential rain)

  • Weight loss - For the first time in a very very long time. The numbers on the scales are going down, as opposed to up.

Side Affects

I've only taken the introductory dose of 2.5mg this month. But whilst I was prepared and expecting a lot of side affects, I didn't have any at all.

No headaches. No nausea. No bowel movement problems. Nothing.

My experience this month has been entirely positive. Not only physically but also mentally and financially.

I'll do a separate post as to how my shopping bill is looking this month, but I've saved a small fortune now I'm not eating for a family of 5!

Results

So, what has this looked like this month?

Well, by the end of the month, my trousers have started to flash my arse whilst walking the dog. I've had to adjust the knot in the drawstring twice now as they really loosened off.

My hoodie is no longer feeling like a sports bra either.

I took my first jab on 5th February and as of 5th March, I lost a total of 8.7kg in 28 days.

I've a long way to go but I'm super happy with my first month on the road to change. I'll be aiming to continue using Mounjaro as a tool to adjust my lifestyle and habits over the coming months.

And whilst I have no intention of racing up the doses as quickly as possible, after some careful consideration, I will be moving to 5mg for month 2. I'm excited to see what that brings.
