So I ran....

For the first time since 2022, I've started running. Not very far and not very fast. But I ran and im absolutely chuffed with myself for it.

But before we get into that, I probably need to rewind a little as a lot has changed since my last blog and physical change is also starting to become visible now.

Firstly, my weekly weigh in on Monday took me past 20kg lost since 5th Feb. I sort of took this for granted until I picked up a 20kg weight in the gym and thought, "bloody hell. Its actually not bad going that".

For those reading from other parts of the world, 20kg is 3stone 2lb or 44lb.

I've been weight training in the gym for 4 days per week for around 2 months now and its been on my mind that I really want to start doing some cardio again.

Admittedly, like my return to the gym back in Feb, it was something I overthought. Given I'm currently the same dimensions as a 2 bedroom bungalow, I was worried about jumping back on the treadmill for the first time. But last Friday evening, knowing the gym was super quiet, I did it. I went the gym with sole intention of doing cardio.

Now I'm not running very far, nor am I running very fast at the moment. But I know speed and endurance can be worked on, as long as I start showing up. And that's my focus for the time being. Just showing up!

Its probably the theme of this whole journey so far. Consistency.

But today marks my 3rd cardio session since starting Mounjaro. Ironically, its also my 3rd cardio session since 2022. But looking back at where i was just a few months ago, the shift has been huge.

I did 65 minutes on the treadmill today in intervals of 2 min walk and 3 min running.

I used to box and I love the sport, so I thought what better place to start than with 3 minute rounds. The math works great too as i essentially did 12 rounds in the hour with a 5 min decreasing speed walk to cool down at the end.

Looking back over the past few months, i can safely say that Mounjaro has been an absolute game changer for me.

Its helped completely flip the script with my mentality, my food and my fitness. Don't get me wrong, I'm putting a lot of effort in too, but it was certainly the catalyst in making this lifestyle shift.

As for the jabs, I'm still on 7.5mg and I wont be going any higher. This dose is working amazing for me. I still eat a lot, I still get hungry but the food noise is a lot quieter. Other thoughts now run through my mind beyond, "what's in the fridge" or "what am I having for my next meal".

But I still eat cake. I still eat chocolate. And I still lose weight. I just do it in moderation and not like the world is going to end tomorrow!

I could eat a lot cleaner and the results would likely be better again. But I'm happy and I'm consistent and this feels sustainable.

So I'll keep chipping away and we'll see where we end up. I've still got my eye on being "good for Goodwood" in 6 weeks time. So I'm excited to see what the results look like then.

Have I Forgotten About Mounjaro?

Judging by my last few blog posts, you'd be forgiven for thinking I'd quietly binned off Mounjaro and become one of those people who spends every waking hour in the gym talking about protein. Don't pa
